The Simpsons Makes Its Debut in Rocket League: Unfortunately Not the Car Fans Are Dreaming Of
It was previously announced that The Simpsons was teaming up with Fortnite, but that's not the only destination where fans can immerse themselves in the universe of Springfield. The long-running series is coming over to Rocket League, bringing along an in-game car skin that will also be usable in Fortnite. However, whether players will truly desire to equip it is a different matter, as there's only one Springfield car the community is eager to get behind the wheel of, and this isn't it.
What Fans Really Want
While many players would undoubtedly love to compete behind the wheel of The Homer—the famously flawed automobile Homer designed himself in the classic installment "the one where he meets Herb"—that's not what players are receiving. Not even receiving the Canyonero, the enormous vehicle showcased in season 10. Instead, fans are getting the Simpsons' everyday beat-up four-door, which has been in the family since 1989. Though this particular car has accumulated plenty of miles, it stands as an recognizable symbol of the show. For those who pay attention to Rocket League car hitboxes, the trusty sedan shares the same hitbox as the Dominus body type.

Additional Themed Cosmetics
But that's not the only customization item from the show arriving in the game. The event will also include a series of challenges to unlock additional rewards, all of which are Simpsons-themed. According to a press release, the missions will task participants to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are The Simpsons years on air, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to The Simpsons’ house, and drive a distance sufficient for acquiring the perfect donuts!"
Although the complete list of earnable items hasn't been disclosed, here is what has been confirmed so far:
- Blinky topper
- Homer's Hedges player banner
- Waste wheels
- 20,000 experience points for each challenge
Based on promotional images is a reliable guide, it appears players will also receive wheels with a TV displaying the show's title sequence, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and boost effects themed to smoldering rubber and Krusty's famous restaurant.
Event Timing and Fortnite Connection
This event lines up with the major Simpsons invasion of Fortnite, which includes a brand-new map of the fictional town, as well as a 30-day Battle Pass. The Rocket League x The Simpsons event launches on Saturday, Nov. 1 and concludes on November 17th.
